The Purpose of This Blog

Science. A method? A worldview? A body of knowledge? A naturalistic explanation of all phenomena? A philosophy of the material world? Science impacts our lives in so many ways, but few people leave school with a clear understanding of what science is and what science is, and is not, capable of doing. This is compounded by the fact that a lot of stuff people learned at school or at uni is no longer 'true' a decade later. For example, most of the dinosaurs you learned when you were a kid - they're not 'real' anymore.

In this blog, I aim to educate you about science. Not just the body of knowledge produced by science, but the process and philosophy of science. I want to show you how to think like a scientist, not tell you what to think.

I also want to reflect on my own science journey, sharing some of the joys and pitfalls that are all part of the package for a research scientist. I hope you find it interesting.
